The rabbit chews the cage bars and the guinea pig whistles every time something rustles in the kitchen. One way to fill the day is a treat the animal has to take from your hand instead of finding it in the bowl.

Herby Hearts are heart-shaped Burgess Excel treats for rabbits and guinea pigs. The base is grass (35%), joined by spinach, kale, dandelion leaves, chamomile and a herb mix (1.7%) of oregano, basil, thyme, marjoram, dill and rosemary. There is no added sugar and no artificial colours or flavours. Crude fibre is 14%, so the treat stays on the same grass-based line as the rest of the Excel range.

Feed by hand, up to one treat a day. This may help a shy animal get used to you; do not force it, let it come in its own time.

4 Käppa tip: count the treat into the daily menu and keep hay and fresh water available at all times; if you want help balancing treats, hay and nuggets, ask us for advice.

Add Herby Hearts to your basket and give your pet a reason to come to you.
