A house rabbit is part of the family: it hops onto the sofa, explores every corner and sleeps in the warmth. It also gets less sunlight and often moves less than a rabbit living in the garden. Burgess Excel Indoor is made for a rabbit with exactly this lifestyle.

Burgess Excel Indoor is a complementary food for house rabbits from 16 weeks to 5 years. The manufacturer links vitamin D (3,500 IU/kg) to skin and bone health, because a house rabbit gets less sunlight. L-carnitine (12.5 mg/kg) supports weight control according to the manufacturer; crude fat is 4%. The manufacturer's figure for beneficial fibre is 40% and fibre supports digestion; natural tooth wear comes mainly from chewing hay. Dried dandelion and nettle (0.2% each) add flavour, and the prebiotic FOS supports gut flora.

Grass meal is the base and every nugget is identical, so even the cleverest house rabbit cannot pick out only the best bits. Hay still remains the main food: 85 to 90% of the daily menu, and the manufacturer's feeding table is below.

Feeding guide
Complementary food. Daily amount of nuggets according to the manufacturer's table: 1 kg rabbit 20 g; 2 to 3 kg rabbit 40 to 60 g; 4 kg rabbit 80 g; 5 kg rabbit 100 g; see the pack for the exact amount. Hay or fresh grass should make up 85 to 90% of the daily diet, nuggets are a small portion, plus a handful of fresh greens every day. Fresh drinking water must always be available. Change to the new food gradually over 14 to 28 days.
