Burgess Excel Dualcare is a complementary food for recovering rabbits and guinea pigs. According to the manufacturer the fibre is kept coarse rather than ground to powder; the manufacturer's figure for beneficial fibre is 42% and it supports digestion. Protected vitamin C is 10,000 mg/kg, important for a recovering animal and especially for guinea pigs, which cannot make vitamin C themselves. Magnesium and tryptophan are added for stressful times, prebiotics support gut flora. One pack holds 10 sachets of 60 g; a sachet is not one feeding, and prepared paste should be made fresh each time.
Dualcare can be given in two ways. Dry, as nuggets alongside hay, it suits an animal that still eats on its own. Paste and syringe feeding only on your vet's instructions: the vet sets the amount and frequency and judges whether the animal is stable enough.

Use and dosage
Dry: offer the nuggets alongside hay, with hay always available. As a paste only on your vet's instructions: mix 2 parts warm water with 1 part Dualcare, leave for 3 to 4 minutes and stir. Syringe feed 1 to 2 ml at a time, up to 10 ml per kg of body weight per feeding session, usually about 3 sessions a day. Prepare the paste fresh for each feeding; a sachet is not one feeding. Not suitable for tube feeding. As the animal recovers, move to dry nuggets and then back to the regular Excel complementary food alongside hay. Pack of 10 sachets, 60 g each.

Grass, oat bran, wheat, soya bean hulls, wheat bran, brewer's yeast, lignocellulose, soya oil, short-chain fructo-oligosaccharides (FOS, 0.3%), minerals, mint, rosemary.
